Tracking a few showers overnight, warm and windy Friday

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds, scattered showers overnight. Lows in the upper 30s with gusty winds.

TOMORROW: Scattered showers early, windy and mild with highs in the low 50s.

EXTENDED: Clouds build in overnight ahead of a warm front sliding east across the region. Temperatures will stay above freezing with a chance of a few showers after midnight. It's windy all night into tomorrow, with gusts up to 30 mph at times. We'll see scattered rain showers through the morning with highs getting into the low 50s before a strong cold front cuts the warmth quickly by Friday night. Strong north winds send our temperatures into the teens by Saturday morning with wind chills in the single digits. Cold temperatures and sunshine stick around for Saturday as highs get into the upper 20s. A fast moving disturbance to our north could clip the eastern half of our area early Sunday, bringing clouds and a chance for some light snow early in the day. Right now I don't expect more than a dusting of snow through Sunday afternoon, and the favored area will be along the Mississippi River. Next week is definitely going to feel like spring with temperatures getting into the mid-50s Tuesday through Thursday. A strong system is expected to track across the Plains on Wednesday, sending rain our way late Wednesday into Thursday. There could be a few snow showers on the back side of this Thursday night, but currently the impacts and any accumulation potential appears low for Mid-Missouri.
