Tracking a few light showers Thursday, clouds hold

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a few sprinkles. Lows in the mid-upper 50s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with spotty showers possible. Highs in the upper 60s to around 70.

EXTENDED: The remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur have been pushing back on low pressure centered over the Ohio Valley, making it tough for clouds to exit Mid-Missouri. Lingering spot showers are possible tomorrow, with below average temperatures expected through Thursday. A warm front approaches Mid-Missouri from the southwest on Friday into Saturday, triggering scattered showers and thunderstorms, and ushering in warmer temperatures. Highs reach the upper 70s on Friday, and into the low to mid-80s with more humidity over the weekend. The increase in moisture and instability will make storms more likely on Saturday and Sunday, and a few strong storms can't be ruled out given the environment. Showers and storms will continue into early next week as we'll still be locked into a southwesterly flow pattern with disturbances heading our way. Temperatures should still remain above average in the upper 70s to low 80s.
