Tracking waves of rain the next few days

TONIGHT: Gradually decreasing clouds with gusty winds up to 25 mph. Lows falling into the upper 40s.

TOMORROW: Rain returning and cooler with highs near 60.

EXTENDED: The severe weather threat has come to an end across Mid-Missouri as storms exit to the east, but rounds of rain are on the way the rest of this week into the weekend that could bring widespread flooding to parts of southern and southeast Missouri. We'll have some dry time, but rain amounts could add up to 2-3" across much of Mid-Missouri with amounts near 4-5" along I-44. All of the rainfall can be blamed on a stalled front across southern Missouri and northern Arkansas with renewed strong low level winds each day. A few strong storms will be possible on Friday afternoon and evening along the I-44 corridor with large hail as the main concern. It's cooler over the weekend as winds shift to the northwest. Highs reach the lower 50s starting Saturday with overnight lows getting down to near freezing Sunday and Monday nights as skies clear out.
