Tracking two rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms
TONIGHT: I'm tracking a potential of isolated storms to the west along I-70 just after midnight with a more widespread system becoming present in southwest Missouri near the lake around 3-4 am. These storms have the potential to produce damaging winds and large hail, which is why and ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day goes into effect early Sunday morning. Temperatures will drop into the low 60s by the end of the night.
TOMORROW: I'm tracking widespread rain in central Missouri by 5-6 am that will exit the region by 10-11 am. The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day stays in effect through Sunday afternoon due to a secondary round of storms that will begin to form just after 12 pm. Damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes will all be a concern for east and southeast Missouri. EXTENDED: I'm tracking a cloudy but quiet period to start the week with temperatures in the mid 50s Monday afternoon and mid 60s Tuesday afternoon. The calm weather does not last long though, as more chances for showers and thunderstorms arrive on Wednesday afternoon. Temperatures will get into the mid 70s before these storms, and colder air will follow to end the week. With this colder air, daily rain chances will also be expected into next weekend.
