Tracking a few isolated storms tonight, warm and breezy Friday
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a few isolated storms north of I-70 through midnight. Mostly cloudy with lows in the upper 50s to around 60.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the upper 70s to around 80.
EXTENDED: A few scattered storms will be possible along and north of I-70 through late tonight before the warm front lifts north. We'll be mild overnight with temperatures remaining near 60 degrees before rising to about 80 on Friday. Friday and Saturday will both be breezy, with some more cloud cover early Saturday. Most of the day is dry, but we could see a line of storms developing along a cold front to our west late at night. A level 2 out of 5 severe risk is already outlined for northwestern portions of Mid-Missouri for the potential of large hail overnight into Sunday morning. A Weather Alert Day will be in effect from Sunday morning through early Sunday evening for the potential of scattered severe storms. The threat is still looking somewhat conditional as far as ingredients lining up correctly, but given that we have been seeing that potential for several days now, we felt it’s a good idea to give people a heads up with the possibility of hail and damaging winds through church going hours on Sunday and possibly into late afternoon. A cold front to the west will bring a chance of isolated large hail overnight Saturday into Sunday morning, with the best potential for that shaping up along and west of Highway 63. Storms will then fire up along the cold front as low level winds ramp up late Sunday morning, giving us our best window for severe potential from about 11:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. There will be some time for this to shift, as it still appears the highest threat for widespread severe weather will lie to our east and southeast Sunday afternoon and Sunday night. We will likely see the severe threat come to an end in Mid-Missouri by or before sunset on Sunday. Next week starts off cooler behind the cold front with morning temperatures in the 30s and highs in the low 50s on Monday.
