Tracking a warmer and windy Tuesday, late week storms

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a few spotty showers, especially north of I-70. Lows in the upper 30s to low 40s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the upper 60s. Winds gusting to 25 mph out of the northwest.

EXTENDED: Clouds have increased ahead of a weak disturbance that could bring a few spotty showers to northeast Missouri this evening, along with slightly warmer temperatures overnight as we fall to about 40 degrees. Tomorrow will be warmer despite a northwest breeze as high temperatures reach the upper 60s. A low fire risk is possible near the Lake of the Ozarks due to gustier winds and continued low humidity. We'll be dry until Thursday as a warm front lifts through, bringing a chance for scattered storms, especially at night along the front. We still manage to make the low 70s on Thursday despite the storm chance. Friday is looking largely dry and much warmer with that warm front to our north, allowing temperatures to get into the upper 70s to around 80. There will be a chance for a few storms, particularly late in the day or into the evening. The weekend will start off warm as high temperatures on Saturday reach the upper 70s. I'll be tracking a cold front that moves in to the west by late afternoon and works its way east on Sunday. Out ahead of this, a few strong storms could be possible, depending on the timing of the system. The ingredients are shaping up for a few storms with a wind and hail threat, but the dynamics of this system are much less concerning than 3/14's. The Storm Prediction Center has a broad low risk across much of the Midwest on Saturday and Sunday, along with some room for overlap. The issuance of a Weather Alert Day is possible in the coming days.
