Tracking warming temperatures with Friday evening storms
TODAY: Tuesday is sunny and warm, with highs in the low 70s once again with variable winds. Winds will shift from southerly to northerly for many as a weak cold front moves in. Some along and north of HWY 24 may stick in the 60s this afternoon.
TONIGHT: We'll stay dry with this front, but a few clouds are possible. Temperatures fall into the 30s and 40s through Wednesday morning.
EXTENDED: Wednesday is another warm day, as the front lifts back to the north. We'll be partly cloudy with highs in the mid-70s on Wednesday. Some showers may be possible near I-44 to the bootheel Wednesday night from a system that misses us south. We cross into the upper 70s Thursday, as more sunshine returns and we pick up on more south flow. This south flow feeds into the the next system that brings a chance for storms on Friday night. Most of the day will be warm, windy, and sunny. Highs will try to reach 80 in some places, with a forecast high in the upper 70s. At the same time, dew points will only reach the low 50s. This highlights one of the biggest hurdles in the forecast to the severe weather chance; a weak moisture presence. Currently, we're monitoring this system for that potential, but nothing is set in stone. There is currently a chance for storms along the cold front Friday evening, but depending on timing, and finer details like moisture availability and instability have us uncertain on severe potential at this time. We will be well cooler over the weekend, with highs in the 50s likely Saturday and Sunday, which is notably near average.
