Tracking rain changing to snow overnight, strong winds Wednesday

TONIGHT: Rain and a few storms shifting to snow overnight. Strong winds gusting to 40-50 mph overnight.

TOMORROW: Morning snow accumulating on grass up to an inch. Blowing snow lowers visibility through the morning. Highs in the upper 30s with wind chills in the low 20s as winds could gust to 50 mph through the day.

EXTENDED: The risk for severe weather this evening is low, but if storms do develop the best potential would likely be near the Lake area where rain is trying to clear out. If we don't see any development, our focus will turn to very strong winds and the potential for blowing snow through the morning commute. A High Wind Warning and Winter Weather Advisory are both in effect for the western half of Mid-Missouri as 0.5" to 1" of snow is expected as cold air moves in on the back side of this system, creating very low visibility through the morning commute. Snow looks to exit by mid-late morning, leaving us with sustained winds between 30-40 mph and gusts up to 50-60, especially west of Highway 63. Wind chills will be in the low 20s for much of Wednesday. Winds finally begin to ease late tomorrow night, with sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures on Thursday. We'll end the week with a chance for a few showers on Friday, and warmer temperatures in the 50s. The weekend is looking a bit cooler to start on Saturday, but we'll rebound with sunshine and near 60 on Sunday. Next week looks to start off mild with highs near 70.
