Tracking chances for storms, a cold front, and more seasonable air

TONIGHT: We have another full day of above average heat before we cool down. Today's heat will contribute to a chance for storms as greater moisture works in from the south. We'll see scattered thunderstorms arrive this afternoon and possibly linger into the overnight hours. These storms will focus in the southeastern quadrant of the region, near Jefferson City, Vienna, and Hermann. Severe wind is possible, but is not expected to be widespread. These storms will largely drift east by sunrise, when some showers and storms may drift in from the west.

TOMORROW: Tuesday starts with a rain chance in the west, but then activity will die off through the midday hours. We'll be mostly dry, with partly cloudy skies, and temperatures feeling like 100 by the afternoon. A cold front arrives around 7 p.m., and will bring a chance for storms along it. Chances for thunderstorms are best along and south of I-70. Jefferson City will have a better chance than Moberly. One or two of these storms may be strong, but overall severe weather is not a threat.

EXTENDED: Behind Tuesday night's cold front, some showers may linger into early Wednesday, but the bigger impact will be more seasonable air. Expect highs in the 80s again on Wednesday. This theme should continue through the rest of the forecast. We're also mostly dry the rest of the forecast with limited chances for rain Friday, Sunday, and Monday.
