Tracking strong storm chances tomorrow
WEDNESDAY: A warm front will be moving through the area today. Along with temperatures back in the 60's, it will bring some rain chances this afternoon, too. Rain chances can't be ruled out all day, but look to be best between 12-6. Could hear a few rumbles of thunder but we don't expect anything severe at this moment.
TONIGHT: Trends have been to keep us quiet tonight aside from a rogue shower or storm. If we see anything develop it would be late tonight and favor our northern counties. Lows will only fall back to near 60 tonight with a steady southerly wind.
EXTENDED: It will feel different waking up Thursday morning, with some warm, moist air returning to Mid-Missouri. Temperatures will get back into the 70's by the afternoon, priming the atmosphere for storms. We've issued a Weather Alert Day with strong storms expected to develop along a frontal boundary toward Thursday evening. Timing is still flexible, but storms could move in as early as 5PM but might not enter the viewing area until the overnight hours. When they do, all modes of severe weather are on the table. Showers and storms will likely last into the Friday morning hours and will want to redevelop by the afternoon. That keeps rain chances around the area to close out the week and likely into the weekend. Timing is still up in the air, but temperatures look to be getting into the mid to upper 70's each day.
