Tracking widespread storms and flooding tonight

THIS AFTERNOON: An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day has been issued for flash flooding as storms develop this afternoon and evening. Hot and humid ahead of the rain, with highs near 80 degrees.

TONIGHT: Widespread storms are expected overnight, with a Flood Watch in effect through Friday morning for most of the area. 1 to 3 inches of rain is possible on Thursday night alone.

EXTENDED: Scattered storms persist on Friday as a front sits overhead, continuing the risk of isolated flash flooding during the day. A final round of storms is possible on Saturday as the front lifts north, and up to 2 to 4 inches of rain is forecast by the end of the week, with local amounts from 3 to 5 inches possible. Brutal heat quickly takes over by Sunday, squashing rain chances through next week and driving daily high temperatures into the 90s, with a possible triple-digit heat index every day.
