Tracking a very warm weekend ahead

TODAY: Friday is cooler thanks to clouds and a light northerly breeze, leaving most of the day in the 50s.

TONIGHT: Calmer winds and clearing skies overnight will promote efficient cooling as lows drop to the 40s and upper 30s. The coldest areas in northern Missouri could see patchy frost.

EXTENDED: Southerly winds pick up on Saturday, gusting up to 20 mph and increasing to 30 mph on Sunday. Temperatures rebound sharply as a result, reaching the upper 60s to 70 on Saturday and soaring to the low 80s by Sunday. A cold front will arrive sometime late Sunday into early Monday and may produce isolated showers and storms, but rain amounts will be low. Temperatures drop closer to average early next week in the 60s, with better rain chances around Wednesday and Thursday.
