Tracking small rain chances amid a midweek warmup
TODAY: Tuesday starts cold with a freeze warning in place areawide. A hard freeze is possible in the north. A period of 28 degrees or cooler for an extended time would kill any vegetation not protected. The rest of the day is similarly chilly. Afternoon highs remain in the mid-50s to 60 at best in the south.
TONIGHT: South winds and clouds overnight keep us warmer. Lows Wednesday morning drop into the mid-40s.
EXTENDED: South winds in the warm sector of an approaching clipper low will push highs to near 70 despite clouds. A shower or two is possible but unlikely for most during the day. Wednesday is mostly dry until a chance for showers and weak storms comes along a weakening front Wednesday evening. The front becomes more diffuse with time, before another lobe of low pressure wraps around the first, bringing another chance for showers and weak storms on Thursday. Highs on Thursday are cooler, in the mid-to-upper 60s, but still comparable to Wednesday. No more rain chances are forecast after the few hundredths a select few will pick up from the midweek rain. We'll stay dry and mild through the weekend.
