Tracking a dry and mild end to the work week ahead of a rainy Valentine’s

TODAY: Thursday is another mild day, with a return of south winds and mostly cloudy skies for the first half of the day. The Temperature forecast has nudged higher this morning, with less potential for light showers and a better chance of afternoon sunshine through partly cloudy skies. Highs are expected around 55°.

TONIGHT: South winds continue overnight, likely keeping temperatures a few degrees warmer early Friday, in the mid-30s.

EXTENDED: More sunshine is expected on Friday, and with light south-to-west winds, temperatures should have no trouble reaching 60°. The weekend continues to evolve, with the track of Saturday's system appearing to be both strong and close enough for us to increase rain chances over the first half of the weekend. Trends are pointing to near 60-70% chances of at least 0.1" of rain along I-70. Probabilities increase southward and decrease northward. Still, it looks likely that many, if not most, of us will have to deal with wet weather on Saturday. Greatest chances will come between 3 and 9 p.m. Rainfall amounts are still somewhat uncertain, but best approximations put those near Moberly, Brunswick, Macon, and Mexico in the 0.1-0.5" range, those from Columbia to Jefferson City in the 0.25-0.75" range, and areas south of HWY 50 picking up 0.5-1.5" of rain. Dry weather is likely on Sunday, with a trend towards sunshine through the morning. Generally dry and warm weather kicks off next week, as 60s-70s are possible Monday through Wednesday.
