Tracking mild and dry weather until greater rain chances on Valentine’s Day

TODAY: Wednesday is another step towards cooler air, with highs forecast near 50° this afternoon. This is 5-10° cooler than Tuesday. Mostly sunny skies and light north winds are expected.

TONIGHT: Temperatures fall into the 40s this evening, and into the low 30s overnight. Dry weather is expected, despite increasing clouds.

EXTENDED: Starting near freezing Thursday morning, it's a chilly start to another mild day. Highs are once again expected near 50. Thursday is likely overcast and dry, but there will be a chance for light sprinkles through the afternoon and evening. Friday is dry and a little warmer with a return to partly cloudy skies and south winds. We expect clouds to increase late ahead of another area of low pressure that moves through the Arklatex this weekend. It's uncertain exactly how far north rain coverage stretches on Saturday, but areas south of Highway 50 likely see rain by Saturday evening. Coverage could reach as far north as HWY 36, but probabilities are lower. Until we gain more confidence in the track, some uncertainty will remain in coverage—current probabilities of at least trace amounts of rain near I-70 are about 60%. Temperatures remain warm through the weekend, in the 50s each day. The 60s are beginning to look probable early next week.
