Tracking a dry start to the week before late week showers and storms
TODAY: Monday will be mostly cloudy and mostly dry. Few showers are likely to be seen on radar today, and those that are seen will struggle to get any rain to the surface thanks to a bank of dry air near the surface. Still, this keeps us gray today. Highs max out in the mid-60s with a breeze from the northwest around 10-15 mph, gusting around 20-25 mph through the day.
TONIGHT: We'll cool into the 40s overnight with continued northwest winds. Skies will clear.
EXTENDED: Clear skies hold strong on Tuesday, bringing abundant sunshine to another breezy and cool day. Highs stick in the low 60s thanks to a persistent breeze of 10-15 mph with more 20+ mph gusts. Wednesday will bring more clouds and a chance at showers by midday. This will be a precursor to a generally wetter week ahead. Showers will be light and somewhat spotty Wednesday, but it gives way to more moisture and instability Wednesday night into Thursday. A warm front will generate a chance for storms through Thursday morning. These will likely be elevated, and no severe is anticipated at this time. Thursday afternoon should be quieter with a stable warm layer taking over the atmosphere for most of the day. So after a wet start, Thursday should be mostly dry. Friday starts dry, but building warmth, and an approaching cold front will help to erode the CAP, leaving us a chance for afternoon and evening storms. These storms will have abundant support from winds aloft, leaving us with some concern for severe weather Friday night. the weekend continues the wet trend, with scattered rain possible Saturday, and likely on Easter Sunday.
