Tracking dry, breezy, and warm weather up to the weekend
TODAY: Thursday is sunny and mild, with highs in the 50s and a northwest wind of 10-20 mph. Today will not be a day to burn, with these dry and breezy conditions creating marginal fire weather conditions.
TONIGHT: Temperatures stay above freezing overnight, with lows in the 30s under clear skies with winds weakening and shifting southerly.
EXTENDED: Southwest winds will ramp up on Friday in response to an approaching trough of low pressure. Winds will reach 20-25 mph sustained through the midday, with gusts spanning 30-40 mph at times. This, partnered with relative humidity possibly dropping below 20% will create widespread enhanced fire danger. Do not burn Friday. High temperatures will reach mid-60s thanks to these south winds. After a dry and warm Friday, we get a bit of a shock come Saturday. A dry cold front will drop temperatures into the 30s Saturday morning, and keep us in the upper 40s for highs that afternoon. We won't be any warmer on Sunday, with a start in the 20s and high in the 40s. Monday brings more clouds, and a slight chance for showers, but the responsible low pressure system looks to be shifting south, so many may struggle to see rain. A growing chance is shaping up Tuesday, as the open wave that has been forecast to roll in behind it is deepening into a stronger system over the past few updates. If this trend holds, we could be looking at a widespread rain chance Tuesday into Wednesday.
