Cody Schrader officially declares for 2024 NFL Draft

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou's new single-season rushing record holder is taking his football talents to the next level. Running back Cody Schrader announced on social media that he is declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Schrader's story took the college football world by storm this season. He started his collegiate career at the NCAA Division II level at Truman State before becoming a walk-on at Mizzou for the 2022 season. In his debut season with the Tigers, Schrader rushed for 744 yards and nine touchdowns.

In 2023, Schrader had a breakout season. The consensus All-American rushed for 1,627 yards, setting the program's single-season record for rushing yards, and posted 14 touchdowns. During Mizzou's matchup with Tennessee, Schrader also became the first SEC player to ever record 200 rushing yards and 100 receiving yards in a single game.

The SEC's leading rusher was also named the winner of the Burlsworth Trophy, which is awarded to the best college football player who started their career as a walk-on, and a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, which honors the top running back in college football.

Schrader is now the sixth Mizzou football player to announce their plans to pursue an NFL career. Schrader is currently the only Tiger on the offensive side of the ball to declare for the NFL Draft. Kris Abrams-Draine, Nyles Gaddy, Jaylon Carlies, Darius Robinson and Ennis Rakestraw Jr. are the other five Mizzou football players who have already made their NFL Draft declarations.
