Mizzou tailgaters excited for football season

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Tailgates were in full swing surrounding Faurot Field as fans prepared to cheer on the tigers ahead of the season opener Thursday.

University of Missouri alumni and current students gathered at the "Zou" to root on the Tigers as they faced the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. School spirit was on full display, from outrageous outfits to decked-out tailgates to community.

Mizzou student Matthew Rothermick is going into his senior year. He said he's enjoying his last football season as a student.

"Football season is always my favorite time of year, so really looking forward to the first game and the rest of the season," Rothermick said.

Regardless of the score, Rothermick and his friends are looking forward to the rest of the season with the Tigers.

"Just looking forward to spending time with friends and family and rooting the Tigers on to victory," Rothermick said.

Football season is just getting started, so Rothermick and other Mizzou fans will have more opportunities to tailgate and enjoy their year.

The next tailgating opportunity is in two weeks on Sept. 17, when the Tigers will face Abilene Christian University at home. But the next game is Sept. 10 against Kansas State.
