Veteran Mizzou linebacker declares for NFL Draft
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
After six years in the black and gold, Mizzou linebacker Chad Bailey declared for the 2024 NFL Draft, on Monday. With that announcement, he became the 12th Tiger player to take the next step since the season wrapped up.
Bailey saw an unfortunate end to his final season in Columbia, appearing in just five games in his last ride. He missed the first two games of the season, versus South Dakota and Middle Tennessee State, after undergoing a procedure from an injury that had nagged him in the offseason. He then played in the Kansas State, Memphis, Vanderbilt, LSU and Kentucky games, before suffering a season-ending abdominal injury.
The linebacker still worked with the team and remained a big voice behind the scenes.
He finished 2023 with 17 total tackles, one tackle for loss and one sack. His best year in the black and gold came in 2022, when he registered 57 total tackles, which ranked third on the team, along with 8.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and one fumble recovery.
The majority of Mizzou's declarations for the NFL Draft have come on the defensive end, with 10 out of the 12 guys making the next step playing on that side of the ball.
