Mizzou finishes strong to win back-and-forth game with South Carolina
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou men's basketball pulled out an 83-74 victory over South Carolina after a back-and-forth battle with the Gamecocks Tuesday at Mizzou Arena.
Although the Tigers had the lead for 34.5 minutes of play, the Gamecocks hung with them until the end.
Kobe Brown led Mizzou with 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Three other Tigers also scored in double-figures. Sean East finished with 15 points, Nick Honor added 14 and D'Moi Hodge ended with 12 points and team-high five steals.
The Tigers finished with 17 assists and 10 turnovers.
Mizzou shot 48% from the three-point line and the biggest scoring difference came from the free throw line. After MU missed a few key foul shots down the stretch in the loss to Mississippi State, the team changed that narrative shooting 17-21 for 81% from the line.
With the win, MU is now 18-6 on the season and 6-5 in conference play. The group has had great success at Mizzou Arena this season owning a 14-2 record, including a 5-1 mark in the SEC.
After having back-to-back games with 19 points against Alabama and 20 points against Ole Miss, we've seen Isiaih Mosley's numbers dwindle over the last few games. Mosley did not see the court against South Carolina.
GG Jackson led the Gamecocks with 21 points and Hayden Brown added 19.
Up next - Mizzou will hit the road this weekend to take on No. 6 Tennessee. That game will tipoff Saturday at 5 p.m.
