Mizzou football wraps up fall camp; 12 days until season opener

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou football team wrapped up fall camp in front of fans at Faurot Field on Saturday night. The Tigers hosted an open practice, followed by a movie on the field ahead of the season opener on Sept. 1.

Head coach Eli Drinkwitz said it was not the most exciting practice in the world, but it was important for his team to practice situational football.

"We had a long day building up to a seven o'clock kick, tried to recreate what it was going to be like in 12 days for us," Drinkwitz said. "I thought our guys handled it well. It was important for us to put ourselves in that situation."

In Drinkwitz's injury update, he said that senior linebacker Chuck Hicks sustained a torso injury during practice and will miss the season. He adds that he will receive a medical redshirt, so he will get this year back. Fellow linebacker, freshman, Carmycah Glass will also be out this year, as he had a season-ending surgery on Friday.

The team will begin preparation for Louisiana Tech on Tuesday ahead of that Sept. 1 kickoff at Faurot Field.

"We are expecting to pack the house out for the first game," sophomore wide receiver Dominic Lovett said. "September 1st, be there."
