1 injured, 1 arrested after Ashland crash on overpass

First responders closed off an overpass on East Broadway in Ashland on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025, after a crash occurred.

ASHLAND, Mo. (KMIZ)

An overpass on East Broadway in Ashland was closed off Thursday night by first responders after a crash.

Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report states the crash happened at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday on Route Y/East Broadway at Highway 63.

Troopers said a 21-year-old man from Columbia was driving too fast for conditions.

The crash report states he tried to "traverse the roundabout" west of the highway when his car started to skid. He then went off the side of the road, hit a curb and continued east before he crossed the center line and into the path of a 29-year-old woman from Ashland.

Numerous first responders closed off the overpass, which goes over Highway 63. An ABC 17 News photographer at the scene saw two vehicles that appeared to be involved.

The woman was taken to Boone Hospital with minor injuries.

A trooper at the scene said one person was arrested by Ashland police.

Southern Boone firefighters and an ambulance were also at the scene.

Boone County Joint Communications sent a notification about the crash at 9:23 p.m. The trooper stated that the road was expected to be reopened around 10:30 p.m.

The crash report states the man was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
