COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A crash that left one person injured caused the southbound lanes of Highway 63 in Columbia to close on Friday afternoon near the Interstate 70 connector.

Columbia Fire Department spokeswoman Katherine Rodriguez said two vehicles were involved in the crash and that one injured person was brought to an area hospital by ambulance.

All lanes were reopened by 7 p.m.

A Boone County Joint Communications notification stated at 5:15 p.m. that a collision occurred in the southbound lanes of Highway 63, just south of the connector with Interstate 70. An additional notification sent at 5:57 p.m. stated that traffic from the crash was backed up to Paris Road in Columbia.

The Missouri Department of Transportation Gateway Guide indicated that traffic was slowed to a crawl on Highway 63 near the connector and the northbound on-ramp. An ABC 17 News reporter saw the crash and stated the front end of a vehicle was severely damaged.
