One person injured in four-vehicle crash in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

One person was injured Monday in a four-vehicle crash that closed down the Highway 63 ramp at Highway 54 in Jefferson City for about an hour, according to a press release from the Jefferson City Police Department.

The crash occurred as a 2014 Ford Fusion – driven by Keagan Rothermel, of Lake Ozark – was on Highway 63 when it crossed over the island and stopping on the ramp, according to the release.

A 2006 Ford F-150 – driven by Mark Howser, 61, of Olean – rear-ended the Ford Fusion, according to the release. A 2017 Toyota Highlander – driven by Barbara Kuebler, 71, of Jefferson City – tried to move to the left to avoid hitting the F-150.

A 2012 Chevrolet Sonic – driven by Tawonna Fowler, 32, of Jefferson City – then tried to avoid hitting the Toyota, but was hit by the Toyota on its passenger side. The Toyota then went forward and hit the F-150.

Fowler had a minor injury and was brought to an area hospital by ambulance, according to the press release. The Ford Fusion, F-150 and Toyota Highlander had extensive damage. The Chevrolet had moderate damage.

Everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt, according to the press release.
