COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

UPDATE: Boone County Fire Protection District spokesman Gale Blomenkamp said at 10:40 a.m. crews reopened E. Oakland Chruch Road near N. Buckingham Square.

ORIGINAL: Crews have closed a portion of E. Oakland Chruch Road in north Columbia Tuesday morning because of a dump truck on its side in the roadway.

Boone County Joint Communications sent out an alert about the wreck near N. Buckingham Square at 8:32 a.m. asking drivers to avoid the area.

Boone County firefighters, Boone County Sheriff's deputies and an ambulance responded to the scene.

Authorities at the scene told ABC 17 that the truck driver was hurt and taken to a local hospital. The person's condition was not immediately available.

The owner of the dump truck company was at the scene as well. The person said the truck's tires likely went off the side of the road and driver lost control.
