Rollover crash in Macon County leaves one dead, another with serious injuries

MACON COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said two people were ejected from their SUV in a rollover crash Thursday afternoon, killing the driver.

According to crash reports, David Russell, 73, was driving westbound on a ramp from Highway 36 to Highway 63 in Macon shortly before 4 p.m. when the car went off the left side of the road.

The SUV rolled over, ejecting Russel and a passenger. Troopers said neither were wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Both were transported to Samaritan Hospital, where Russel was pronounced dead. The passenger suffered serious injuries in the crash.

Highway Patrol troopers were assisted at the scene of the crash by the Macon County Sheriff's Office, the Macon Police Department, Macon County Fire and Rescue and Macon County ambulance crews.
