COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

All departures and arrival flights at Columbia Regional Airport were canceled on Wednesday.

This comes after a flight from Dallas-Fort Worth had to turn around after American Airlines advised the airport there was a malfunction with the deicing truck at COU.

The Airport Director at COU, Mike Parks, confirmed the plane had to turn around and did not land at COU on Tuesday.

Online flight data shows American Airlines 5011 left Dallas-Fort Worth International at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday but was diverted around 5:30 p.m. mid-flight.

Parks did not provide specifics about how the truck malfunctioned.

ABC 17 News has reached out to American Airlines for more information but has yet to hear back.

American Airlines operates five flights in and out of Columbia daily to Dallas-Fort Worth and Chicago airports.

ABC 17 News also asked Parks if the canceled flights for Wednesday were related to the malfunction and is waiting to hear back.
