JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City School District announced the hiring of two new middle school principals and a new deputy superintendent.

The district named Dr. Heather Beaulieu as the new deputy superintendent beginning July 1, 2022. Beaulieu will succeed Bryan McGraw, who will transition to the role of superintendent.

Dr. Heather Beaulieu

“The Jefferson City School District is blessed to have a professional with the caliber of Dr. Heather Beaulieu on our leadership team. I am confident she will continue her efforts to improve and grow our district in this new role,” incoming superintendent Bryan McGraw said in a release.

Beaulieu has been an educator for 26 years, serving most recently as the district’s Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education for the 2021-2022 school year.

“The position of assistant superintendent has allowed me to lead our elementary efforts across the district. I plan to utilize that experience and use the knowledge I have gained to help carry out our mission of ensuring that each JC Schools student reaches his/her full potential,” said Beaulieu.

Justin Browning

Justin Browning, current principal at the Jefferson City Academic Center, will be the new principal for Lewis & Clark Middle School. Mr. Browning is replacing Dr. Deanne Fisher, who was named as the new principal for Jefferson City High School.

“I am looking forward to giving my absolute best effort to collaboratively lead what is already an exceptional staff at Lewis & Clark Middle School,” Browning said.

Shawn Kelsch

Shawn Kelsch, current principal at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, will be the new principal for the Jefferson City Academic Center, replacing Justin Browning.

“While TJMS has been an amazing source of joy and pride, I am excited to become a part of the Jefferson City Academic Center team. I am committed to student-centered focus and measurable instructional improvement that maximizes growth. I look forward to creating and fostering the personal growth of students in a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment so that they become productive and successful citizens in our community,” Kelsch said.
