Jefferson City police work two crashes in same spot within minutes
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Two single-vehicle crashes happened in the same spot within minutes of each other on the same stretch of road Sunday evening in Jefferson City, police said.
Police were sent to the 1100 block of northbound Highway 179 for a crash and found a Honda SUV off the road and down an embankment with heavy front-end damage, according to a Jefferson City Police Department news release. Police believe the vehicle was traveling north on Highway 179 when it hydroplaned, hit a guardrail and went off the road.
The driver and passenger each had minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital, police said.
The department said that moments later, a Ford Crown Victoria hydroplaned in the same area, hit the same guardrail and spun in the road. The car stopped spinning while in the road and police helped the driver, the release said. The 16-year-old driver was taken by ambulance to University Hospital with minor injuries, according to the release.
Traffic was down to one lane for about an hour, police said.
