JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Jefferson City police worked two crashes with minor injuries Friday morning, with wet roads contributing to one of them.

The first crash -- a four-vehicle pileup -- happened just after 7 a.m. in the 1600 block of Highway 63/50, the Jefferson City Police Department said in a release. A Jeep going westbound in the driving lane lost control on the wet road and started skidding and spinning in the road, police said.

A Honda and a Ford traveling near the Jeep tried to avoid the crash and collided. A semi-truck driving behind the other three vehicles was unable to stop and swerved to avoid the crash, police said. Its trailer hit the Ford and the Honda and then hit the driver's side of the spinning Jeep.

All the drivers were wearing seat belts. The Jeep driver suffered minor injuries but no one else was hurt.

One lane of westbound 50/63 was closed for an hour and first responders were on the scene for two hours, police said.

About two hours later a Mitsubishi crossing Missouri Boulevard pulled into the path of a Ford, which then crashed into a bus stop waiting area and a utility pole, police said. Westbound Missouri Boulevard was blocked for about 30 minutes. The drivers of each vehicle suffered minor injuries, police said. They were both wearing seat belts.
