Fulton teen dies after crash

EDITOR'S NOTE: The teen's name has been corrected.

FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 17-year-old Fulton boy has died after a weekend crash.

Xander Noel died after the crash that happened Saturday on Route WW in Callaway County, according to a GoFundMe set up by his family to help pay hospital costs. Missouri State Highway Patrol Cpl. Kyle Green confirmed that Noel had been declared brain dead.

Noel will be buried Saturday in Kansas City and a memorial will take place at 4 p.m. Friday at Veterans Park Amphitheater in Fulton.

Noel was a member of the Fulton High School cross-country team, which posted a memorial message to him Saturday on its Facebook page.

"Next fall would be his senior year," the post says. "There are no words to describe how much he will be missed. Prayers for his friends and family."

Fulton Public Schools spokeswoman Karen Sneathen said Noel was a high school junior in the district. Counselors and social workers were on hand Monday.

Noel crashed Saturday afternoon after his vehicle crossed the center line and hit a pickup truck, according to a highway patrol crash report. He was wearing a seat belt.

Green said Noel was the only person in his vehicle. The pickup driver was not hurt, according to the crash report.

Noel's family says he was an organ donor.
