MU not planning on renewing contract with Downtown apartment complex

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The University of Missouri is not planning on renewing its Residential Life contract with The Rise on 9th apartment complex for next school year.

Christian Basi, a spokesperson for the university, told ABC 17 News in an email that the school believes it can accommodate all students who are asking for on-campus housing.

Basi says that could change as the fall semester gets closer.

The most-recent contract with complex -- locate at 915 Locust Street -- began in the 2020-21 school year.

A 19-year-old nursing student was recently found dead at the complex. The cause of death is still under investigation by the University of Missouri Police Department.
