A judge has sentenced a Franklin, Missouri man for stabbing a woman to death in September 2020.

Howard County Judge Scott Hayes sentenced Emmett S. Wood Jr. to a total of 32 years in prison on Monday. The judge gave Wood consecutive sentences of 25 years in prison for second-degree murder and seven years in prison for armed criminal action.

Woods agreed to a plea deal with the Howard County Prosecutor's Office late last month in the death of 22-year-old Courtney Clardy.

Investigators found Clardy dead from stab wounds at a home in the 400 block of Crews Street in Franklin, Missouri, on Sept. 7, 2020.
