Family seeks settlement in fatal Boone County crash

MGN

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The family of a man that died in an October 2020 motorcycle wreck is seeking a settlement from the insurance company of the person who killed him.

According to court records, the family of Noel R. Hertzing is seeking $100,000 from State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company who insured Elizabeth Cockrum.

The family alleges they are owed money because of Cockrum's negligence in the crash.

Missouri state troopers say Hertzing was driving westbound on Highway 124, east of Hopper Road when he hit a deer causing the vehicle to slide. The crash report said Hertzing was thrown from his motorcycle and hit by Cockrum -- he was pronounced dead shortly after.
