CPD: Juvenile shot in northeast Columbia, wound ‘not life-threatening’

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Police Department wrote on its Facebook page on Monday night that a juvenile suffered a gunshot wound in northeast Columbia and was brought to an area hospital.

The department wrote it believed the wound was not life-threatening.

CPD also said on its social media that there is no suspect information to share at this time. The department wrote that it responded to a shots-fired call at 8:40 p.m. in the 2200 block of Ballenger Lane.

An ABC 17 News reporter saw police tape up at the parking lot of Arena Liquor, near the intersection with Rice Road. At least 12 police vehicles were seen in the area.

Several officers were on the scene. An ambulance left the scene as an ABC 17 News reporter arrived. Another ambulance was seen later in the evening.

Police told an ABC 17 News reporter that were searching for shell casings in the area.

A neighbor told ABC 17 News that they heard an argument in a driveway before hearing -- what they described as -- a shot being fired.

Police started taking down tape at 10:37 p.m.

ABC 17 News is working to learn more information.
