COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Boone County deputies say they arrested a Colorado man Thursday afternoon after he alleged he had been exposed to COVID-19 and spat on a deputy.

Daniel Weaver, 31, of Denver, was booked into the Boone County Jail around 8:30 p.m. Thursday on suspicion of second-degree assault and second-degree terrorist threat.

Online jail records show Weaver was in jail custody being held without bond Friday.

Boone County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Brian Leer said deputies were called to the Budget Inn near the Midway truck stop at 2:49 p.m. Thursday on a report of a suspicious person.

Leer said deputies reported that Weaver was walking around a vehicle with a large sword on his belt. Deputies said he also had a pair of nunchucks and a butcher's knife with him.

Leer said Weaver was being uncooperative and swinging the nunchucks at deputies. He later threw a bottle at one of the deputies, hitting the law enforcement officer, Leer said.

Weaver told deputies he was exposed to COVID-19 and then spat on one of the deputies, Leer said.

Leer said Weaver had a medical evaluation and was allowed to enter the jail.
