CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A former assistant football and track coach in the North Callaway School District pleaded guilty to attempted sexual contact with a student.

The Callaway County Sheriff's Office arrested Davonte Kyles of Columbia in April 2019. The investigation resulted from information that Kyles had “engaged in inappropriate contact with a student at the school," according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

A probable cause statement said Kyles sent inappropriate messages to a child less than 15 years old.

Kyles pleaded guilty Jan. 6 and was sentenced to 364 days in jail. According to court records, officials suspended the execution of the sentence and sentenced him to two years of probation.
