VIDEO: Boone County commissioner on stay-at-home order’s effectiveness

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Boone County Commissioner Fred Parry during a live interview Thursday on ABC 17 News joined the chorus of local officials saying stay-at-home orders are working to slow down COVID-19.

Parry cited low numbers of new Boone County cases in recent days to make his point. The interview came one day after officials including Columbia Mayor Brian Treece and Boone County Presiding Commissioner Dan Atwill spoke at a news conference marking two weeks since the local order was signed.

Statewide cases shot up about 200 to 3,539 on Thursday with 19 new deaths reported. However, cases reported by Boone County health officials stayed at 72 for the second straight day.
