COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Attorneys for a woman who was the mother of a man who died in a crash on South Providence Road in Columbia last year have filed a wrongful death lawsuit.

Tenney Putnam, of Buffalo, Missouri, has sued Ciairah Mason, of Columbia, in Ernest Putnam’s death on Nov. 14, 2024.

The lawsuit – that was filed in Boone County on Wednesday -- says that Mason was driving a 2022 Ford Explorer into oncoming traffic and hit a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica, where Ernest Putnam was a passenger.

Previous reporting indicates that three vehicles were in the crash, including a 2015 Hyundai Sonata.

According to a press release from the Columbia Police Department in previous reporting, the Ford was heading southbound on Providence Road and tried to turn left onto Carter Lane. The Chyrsler was heading northbound and hit the Ford. The impact from the crash caused the Ford to overturn and land on top of the Hyundai, the release says.
