Grand opening held for MU Health Care’s new Children’s Hospital and Birthing Center

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The grand opening for MU Health Care’s new Children's Hospital and Birthing Center was held on Wednesday.

The invitation-only event featured comments from hospital leadership, as well as University of Missouri System President Mun Choi. 

The new facility features more than 160 beds, as well as several pediatric specialties among other amenities for patients. It’s connected to University Hospital, allowing for centralized care for all patients, according to a press release

According to a press release sent on Wednesday, MU Health Care treated nearly 60,000 children in 2023. There’s also a Ronald McDonald Family Room located on the pediatric floor. 

A community open house and ribbon cutting will take place from 3-7 p.m. Thursday.
