Dead body found outside Columbia parking garage

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A dead body was found outside a Columbia parking garage on Saturday afternoon.

The body was located outside the entrance of the Hitt Street parking garage. University of Missouri spokesman Christian Basi says no foul play is suspected and that it's “unlikely” that the person is a student. The name and age of the victim have yet to be released.

According to Basi, the body was discovered by a University security guard around 12:15 pm. MUPD and the Columbia Fire Department responded to the scene shortly after. A witness who claims he saw the body before police arrived said the person looked like a middle-aged man. The investigation is still ongoing.

When ABC 17 crews arrived on the scene the body was covered in a sheet which was surrounded by a pool of blood. Officials cleared the scene just before 2 pm.
