COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia neighborhood saw two water main breaks occur Thursday on Lagrange Court and West Ridgeley Road.

The first of the two occurred on Lagrange Court after a construction crew hit a water line around 1 p.m. A City Utilities spokesman said the second occurred between 3:30-4 p.m. in the 200 block of West Ridgeley Road when a part of the street collapsed when a resident tried backing out of their driveway.

Columbia Water & Light has no information yet on what caused that section of road to collapse, but they are investigating.

The City of Columbia website indicates about 18 customers were affected by the water main break and a boil water advisory for those affected was announced and will expire at 11 p.m. Friday.
