Missouri governor addresses violent crime in Columbia
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Missouri Gov. Mike Parson met with Columbia leaders Thursday morning going over violent crime across the state.
Gov. Parson met with city leaders and law enforcement at 10 a.m. to talk about violent crime and a special legislative session that starts Monday. Missouri Department of Public Safety Director Sandy Karsten will join the governor.
The governor spoke about meeting with protesters recently and addressed witnesses of violent crime during the event.
Parson tweeted Thursday morning a focal point of the special session will look at setting up protections for witnesses of violent crimes.
The governor retweeted a post from the FBI seeking information in the death of Kansas City 4-year-old LeGend Taliferro. President Trump named a federal law enforcement operation after LeGend.
A group in Columbia protested the governor's visit.

After visiting Columbia, Parson will head to Cape Girardeau and St. Louis.
