Missouri state trooper narrowly avoids being hit by semi

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A tractor-trailer almost hit a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper in Callaway County as snow fell Wednesday.

The patrol's Troop F shared video of Trooper Eric Penrod and the narrow miss on its Twitter account Thursday. The incident happened while Penrod was working at a crash scene on Interstate 70, according to Troop F.

Penrod was uninjured when the tractor-trailer lost control on the snowy road and drove into the median, just missing Penrod and the crashed vehicles.

The truck driver kept going and the trooper could not pursue the tractor-trailer because he had to stay at the crash scene, Troop F Cpl. Kyle Green said. All other troopers were busy working crashes, as well, so no one could stop the trucker, Green said.

No property was damaged, Green said.

Troop F said Wednesday afternoon that troopers had been sent to 99 calls including 42 stranded drivers and 25 crashes.
