Head-on Interstate 70 crash sends five to hospital

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A head-on crash on Interstate 70 in western Boone County left three people injured, including one seriously.

The crash happened a little before 3:30 a.m. at the 115.8-mile marker and involved three vehicles, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. The crash happened when a 2013 Nissan Murano driven by a 20-year-old man from Grandview, Missouri, hit a Toyota Camry and an Acura RDX head-on in the eastbound lanes.

A 25-year-old man from Frandview riding in the Nissan suffered serious injuries and another passenger, a 28-year-old man with no address listed, suffered moderate injuries. They were both taken to University Hospital by ambulance, the report says.

Two people in the Camry -- a 21-year-old woman from Fort Benning, Georgia, and a 27-year-old man from San Diego -- each suffered minor injuries and went to University Hospital by ambulance.

Boone County deputies took the wrong-way driver to University Hospital, according to the report.
