Columbia Housing Authority receives $835,000 for renovations to Bear Creek apartments

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Housing Authority announced in a Monday press release that it is receiving an $835,000 award in American Rescue Plan Act money from Boone County to renovate its Bear Creek development.

Funds will be used for renovations for apartment units, the community facility and upgrades for its security cameras, the release says.

The Bear Creek development was constructed in 1973 and has 76 units consisting of apartments varying in size from one-to-four bedrooms.

“Investing in the capital needs of existing CHA projects is another key strategic priority for meeting the needs of CHA residents,” CHA Board Chairman Bob Hutton said in the release.
