Erick Libimbi, 21, of Columbia, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the killing of 14-year-old Nasir Smith in November of 2018.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Friday after he pleaded guilty to murder in the 2018 killing of a teenager.

Online court records say 21-year-old Erick Libimbi pleaded guilty last month to a charge of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of 14-year-old Nasir Smith at the Links apartment complex.

Boone County Judge Kevin Crane gave Libimbi credit for time served, court records say.

Libimbi and 22-year-old Alex Glay were each charged with murder in Smith's killing. A hearing is scheduled in Glay's case for Friday. Glay also faces a felony count of dealing marijuana linked to the shooting.

Court documents said Glay and Libimbi met Smith and three unknown people for a drug deal at the Links in November 2018. Libimbi shot in the direction of Smith after one of the unknown people pulled out a gun during the drug deal, police said.
