Tracking widespread showers and thunderstorms with an increasing flood risk into the weekend
TODAY: Thursday will be a quieter day, with no severe weather expected. However, it will be a wet one, with chances for showers through the day. Showers return by mid-morning, and linger all day, into the overnight. Rain will be focused in the south, but extend north. Some will be drier than others. Those in the best rain will only reach the 50s for highs. Some in the north may reach 60s if they can stay dry enough.
TONIGHT: Showers may persist into the overnight. This will taper off by sunrise, when temperatures are near 50, in the upper 40s.
EXTENDED: This will be short lived, as another wave of showers and thunderstorms arrives for Friday. This round will be a bit more widespread, and bring better rainfall. There will be more thunderstorms embedded in this activity, which will increase rain totals. Some flooding will be possible, especially near I-44 where Thursday's rain falls. Some elevated instability could yield a few isolated hail storms, but otherwise, severe weather is not expected in mid-Missouri. A wind and tornado threat misses us just south of I-44. Temperatures will reach low 60s for some. The weekend is cooler, with highs in the 50s, and more rain chances. The wet forecast will yield 1-4 more inches of rain through the weekend, unless you live north of a line from Marshall to Macon, then you may see less than an inch from all of this. Drier weather returns Sunday afternoon and should last through Tuesday.
