Water main break leads to precautionary boil advisory in northeast Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
49 people are under a precautionary boil advisory following a water main break in northeast Columbia Sunday.
According to a social media post from Columbia Water and Light, a water main break occurred at 505 North Wyatt Lane on Sunday, impacting 49 people. A precautionary boil advisory will follow, the post says.
Residents in the affected area should do the following:
- Boil water for three minutes prior to using it for cooking or drinking;
- Not consume ice from an automatic ice maker. Remake ice with water that has been boiled for three minutes;
- Disinfect affected dishes and food contact surfaces by immersing for one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented bleach per gallon of water.
Those who are impacted will receive a hang tag, according to the post.
